ZwickRoell to Exhibit Solutions for Simplifying Melt Flow Testing at SPE International Polyolefins Conference

ZwickRoell will exhibit state-of-the-art solutions for melt flow testing at the 2019 SPE International Polyolefins Conference to be held at the Hilton Houston North, February 24-27. The conference attracts hundreds of engineers focused on polyolefins for the development and manufacture of plastic materials such as packaging, labeling, textiles, and automotive components.

Visitors to booth 27 will have an opportunity to demo the Xflow series of melt indexers designed specifically for the quality assurance of plastics. This family of extrusion plastometers offers the ideal system for every test volume and addresses common challenges in melt flow testing such as:

  • Minimizing operator influence
  • Reducing the amount of time needed to perform the test series
  • Measuring high flow rates
  • Precision cutting of individual samples

ZwickRoell’s innovative line of extrusion plastometers test accurately and efficiently to ISO 1133 and ASTM D1238, test standards used in the industry for quality assurance and goods inwards testing. The Xflow series eliminates operator error to ensure accuracy, reduces the amount of time needed to perform the test series thanks to multi-stage tests, provides precise results with a semi-automated die plug and automated cutting system, and increases efficiency due to fast material purge and easy cleaning at the push of a button.

“In October, we introduced the new color touchscreen electronics for our Xflow series at testXpo, the international forum for materials testing. This new feature makes configuring the test straightforward and exporting data to other devices easy,” explains Melanie Hoffman, application engineer and plastics industry specialist for ZwickRoell in North America.

These touchscreen electronics feature testXpert III measurement and control software. This software runs on the entire range of ZwickRoell testing systems, offering a single platform for needs that span melt flow and impact, as well as tensile, bend and compression testing. testXpert III also incorporates user management features that offer different access rights for various users, reducing the potential for errors in test setup and execution.  Additionally, it supports data export to a proprietary database, ERP or LIMS system, which is essential to key business processes such as the release of production batches for outbound shipment.
