What does the end of support for Windows 7 mean for ZwickRoell customers?
After January 14, 2020, PCs running Windows 7 will no longer receive security updates. To protect you and your data, it is important to switch to modern operating system such as Windows 10. In addition, Microsoft customer service will no longer be available to provide technical support for Windows 7. ZwickRoell will only carry out software developments for testXpert II, testXpert III and testXpert R versions that are Windows 10 compatible. New features will be available exclusively for these software versions.
Is it possible to upgrade my ZwickRoell testing machine to Windows 10?
Windows 10 compatible testing software versions are available for testXpert II (V3.71), testXpert III, testXpert R (V2.0 and higher), and our hardness edition. For testXpert III customers, we have developed a Windows 10 optimized version with our testing software version 1.4.
Due to the end of support for Windows 7 announced by Microsoft, we urgently recommend that you operate testXpert III Version V1.5, which is planned for release in January 2020, on Windows 10 only.
As a general rule, you can equip your ZwickRoell testing machines and instruments for the next generation of technology and make them Windows 10 compatible simply through a software upgrade or update and a new WIN10 PC. In some individual cases, Windows 10 compatibility can only be accomplished through modernization. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to discuss your needs and advise you.
What happens if I, as a ZwickRoell customer, continue to use Windows 7?
If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will keep working as usual, however, it will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your PC will continue to function, but you will not receive anymore software or security updates from Microsoft. If you are connected to the Internet with your testing machine, we urgently advise that you cease any further use of Windows 7.
For older testXpert versions that are not compatible with Windows 10, we still guarantee our usual 10 years of ZwickRoell support. Software retrofitting with existing test programs and options can generally still be performed. We will also continue to offer customer-specific software solutions. New developments for software versions not compatible with Windows 10 are no longer permitted.
