17th May was the third occasion on which the ZwickRoell Forum for High Temperature Testing took place at Messphysik's premises in Austria. As well as lectures by established materials testing experts and workshops held directly alongside the testing systems on display, there was an opportunity to exchange experiences in a congenial atmosphere.
The event showcased Messphysik's expertise in high-temperature testing, creep testing and optical strain measurement for the 65 customers and potential buyers, together with 21 Sales Partners and field sales staff from 13 countries.
The exhibits show a clear trend towards flexible testing solutions, for example with side test-area or easily interchangeable accessories, ranging from furnaces for various temperature ranges to contact and non-contact strain measurement systems. Flexible applications - from ambient temperature to 1500°C in air – can then be realized using only a single testing system.
Both the high-temperature test on glass specimens and the thermo-mechanical test solution - on display for the first time - aroused particular interest among the visitors. The system shown is designed for a temperature range from 50°C to 900°C and enables TMF tests on steel and aluminum specimens in accordance with the European Code of Practice and ASTM E2368.
In addition to exchanging information with materials testing experts, potential customers were able to discuss individual projects with Messphysik engineers. The previous day’s cultural program included a tour of the mediaeval Riegersburg and was rounded off with a convivial evening meal at an Austrian vineyard. The success of this year’s forum makes it highly likely that the event will continue in future; watch for announcements concerning next year's dates.
