ZwickRoell supplies high-capacity testing machine for strain control to Chinese research institute

The Beijing Iron & Steel Research Institute is the leading R&D institute for the steel industry in the People’s Republic of China and provides support for Chinese steel-producers in all aspects of quality assurance and R&D activities. To cope with the increasing demand for high-capacity tests the Institute has ordered a 1200 kN materials testing machine from ZwickRoell.

The Z1200E electro-mechanical materials testing machine (Fmax 1200 kN) is equipped with a ball-screw drive and features a large measurement range, enabling precise determination of low test-forces also, but without the need to re-equip the materials testing machine. Long travel combined with relatively low overall height guarantees trouble-free specimen clamping and convenient testing for a wide range of specimen lengths.

The testing machine is equipped with symmetrically-closing hydraulic grips, ensuring secure specimen clamping. A makroXtens extensometer is used to deliver precise strain measurement at high resolution through the entire test up to break. The complete system is designed for strain-controlled tests to ISO 6892 Method A and GBT 228. Tests to ISO 6892 Method B can naturally be performed also.
