Dynamic tests are performed under cyclic loading and are used for determination of fatigue-limit values and for durability forecasts. ZwickRoell's Linear Testing Machine (LTM) is a new dynamic testing machine range with a drive based on linear motor technology. The electrodynamic drive was designed specifically for use in testing and includes a patented ventilation concept which reduces the thermal effect during the test and increases performance, providing ideal conditions for fatigue testing. The oil-free drive technology makes it highly suitable for use in medical engineering, typical examples being tests on hip-joint, knee and dental implants. Other applications includes tests on standard plastics and composites specimens, together with CT and SEB specimens made of aluminium and plastics.
The new LTM dynamic testing machine range is currently available with forces of ± 5 and ± 10 kN plus a piston stroke of 60 mm. The wide speed-range, from 1 mm/min to 1.5 (1.0) m/s enables both dynamic fatigue tests and slow static materials and component tests to be performed. ZwickRoell's patented electro-dynamic drive is smooth and quiet in operation, particularly at low speeds, while positioning accuracy is +/-2 µm!
Safety and convenience are assured thanks to motor-driven crosshead adjustment and electrically monitored crosshead clamping, together with the safe set-up mode as per EN 60204-1, which reduces speed to 10 mm/s. With integrated T-slotted platform and drip trough, the new LTM testing machines can also be used for tests involving liquid and corrosive media.
