ZwickRoell Delivers Torsion Testing Machine to BHC

BHC Gummi-Metall GmbH produces technically demanding rubber-metal connections and vibration control components for chassis, drive trains, and suspensions of cabs and structures. The company has chosen a ZwickRoell torsion testing machine for quality control and product development.

BHC also produces shock absorbers, torsional couplings, motor bearings, bearing bushings, and rubber-metal bearings for various industrial areas. Due to their location, these elements are subject to vibrations and torsional loads, and can fail prematurely if not properly designed. Operational torsional strength testing based on the actual expected loading is necessary for adequate protection.

BHC will use ZwickRoell's TorsionLine testing machine (torque up to 2000 nM) to perform hysteresis and stiffness tests under axial and cardanic torsional loads.

1.Testing of axial stiffness

The specimen (outer diameter) is gripped in a pneumatic three-jaw chuck, which is mounted on the mounting platform on the drive end. On the support end of the testing machine, the specimen axis is gripped by a vise that is mounted on the mounting platform. Once the safety door is shut and the test is started, the axial stiffness is determined according to the preset test parameters.

2. Testing of cardanic stiffness

The specimen is gripped by the three-jaw chuck by means of a special adapter that is mounted on the outer diameter. The specimen axis is fixed to the mounting platform with an additional mounting adapter. Once the door is closed and the test is started, the cardanic stiffness is determined according to the preset test parameters.
