Low Cycle Fatigue Testing for Metals

Low cycle fatigue (LCF) is low-cycle endurance testing, where homogeneous materials are subject to mechanical cyclic plastic strains that cause fatigue failure within a short number of cycles. Element provides testing to a number of industry specifications. Relevant standards for LCF are ASTM E606, ISO 12106, BS 7270, ASTM D3479, etc. These are standard test methods for strain-controlled fatigue testing. The LCF result allows us to study the behavior of the material in greater depth to better understand the complex mechanical and metallurgical phenomena (crack propagation, work softening, strain concentration, work hardening, etc.).
