Increased Efficiency in Tensile Testing of Metals According to ISO 6892-1 and ASTM E8/E8M

The tensile test is one of the most important test in determining the mechanical properties of metals. Commonly used requirements stem from the ISO 6892-1 and ASTM E8 standards. These standards describe, among other things, the recommended test speeds for the methods with stress rate and strain rate control. In the webinar, we will discuss the normative requirements and differences between the ISO and ASTM standards. Based on a typical ZwickRoell testing system and the testXpert testing software used, the efficiency increases that can be realized through the support of testXpert and the choice of testing method are explained.

Innovative Optical Extensometer for Metals Testing: Every Test Counts

The new optical extensometer for tensile testing of metals is equipped with blue light technology, which emphasizes the natural pattern of the specimen surface, which can be used directly for non-contact strain measurement with virtual gauge marks. The advantage therefore lies in the mark-free measurement, which elevates efficiency gains and time savings by eliminating the need for gauge marks. In combination with the implemented software algorithms, the reliability of the test results is also increased, as small lateral specimen movements are automatically corrected during the test. The number of invalid test results in the elastic range is also significantly reduced.
