ZwickRoell Delivers Testing Machine to Screw Manufacturer

At Schmid Shrauben Hainfeld (SSH) in Austria everything revolves around screws, fasteners and custom parts. Up until now the company, which is part of the Würth Group, used a sixty-year old Losenhausenwerk testing machine that was unable to meet current standards. Once the required results from the company’s round robin tests could also no longer be validated, SSH chose to move forward with the Z400E universal testing machine from ZwickRoell.

With the new testing machine, strain-controlled tensile tests on metals to ISO 6892-1 are now possible. This is a requirement imposed particularly on suppliers and products of the automotive industry. The Z400E is an investment ready for the next generation that not only allows for testing with very high loads, but also provides the highest level of precision with extremely small test loads. The testing machine is used for tests on wire, round steel specimens and wood tensile strength tests within the scope of the ETA. It is also used for tensile tests on screws and bolts to DIN 898 and tests based on the different strength levels. Compression tests, for example for wire crush tests, as well as flexure tests are also possible. For wood-concrete composite testing, the machine comes with a large T-slotted base platform as the base crosshead and additional length measuring sensors when ordered. With its variety of testing options the Z400E universal testing machine meets the extensive requirements of the areas of quality management, research and development, and application technology and innovation that are imposed on a current testing solution. This results in new cooperation possibilities among different departments and the development of future connection solutions.
