Deep Drawing and Tear-Off Test to Engelhardt

The deep drawing and tear-off test to Engelhardt is a method used for the determination of sheet metal forming properties.

A cup is drawn from a circular specimen, and the die movement is continued until the bottom of the drawn component tears off. The necessary drawing force and force required to cause the bottom to crack are measured.

The test is based on the determination of the characteristic value T as a measure of the safety that is still present during a specific cup draw event, until a bottom crack appears under the current conditions.
