ZwickRoell’s Training Center for Training and Development Officially Opens

A clear commitment to Ulm: At a ceremonial opening, the testing machine manufacturer ZwickRoell officially inaugurated its new training and development center at its headquarters in Ulm-Einsingen. The company is investing approximately €11.2 million in the project, sending a clear signal of its commitment to long-term competitiveness and the continued development of employee skills and qualifications at ZwickRoell.

The training center is centrally located on the company campus, underscoring the strategic importance of training and development for the company. The location was specifically chosen to give the topic special prominence in terms of space as well.

Investment in training and international qualification

The training center was completed within the planned budget and timeframe. Speakers, including Christine Dübler, Chief Sales Officer at ZwickRoell, Human Resources Manager Wolfgang Bierer, and Training Manager Amelie Ruchti, praised the project as a “strong commitment to the location and to training, with great appeal and practical benefits for employees.” It was also emphasized that the key now is to actively leverage the new opportunities and further develop the training program.

The cultural significance of the training center was also highlighted. It should be a place where ZwickRoell's values of openness, passion, and courage are lived, and where individuals can grow and help shape the company's future. In addition, trainees shared compelling accounts of their training experiences at the testing machine manufacturer. The ZwickRoell company band provided the musical accompaniment for the event. Afterward, guests were able to take tours of the building.

A modern learning environment

Spanning around 2,100 square meters of floor space, the three-story training center brings together modern facilities for training and development under one roof. Mechanical and electrical training workshops, as well as training to become a materials testing technician, are now organized in a central location. Flexible room layouts, modern learning formats, and digital technologies create an environment that encourages project-based, independent work. Innovative technologies like 3D printing, robotics, and virtual reality are already in use, supporting forward-looking learning methods. In doing so, ZwickRoell is specifically responding to the demands of a technology-driven environment. The company's Junior Company is also located in the new training center. In this hands-on format, trainees take on responsibility, carry out their own projects, and develop entrepreneurial skills.

International training center for service

Another key focus of the training center is service training. Each year, around 200 training sessions are held in several training rooms, attended by approximately 1,000 technicians from around the world. The focus is on the close integration of theory and practice, particularly when working with static and dynamic testing machines. The training center is therefore not just an investment in modern infrastructure, but above all in skills, knowledge transfer, and the company's long-term development.

Dr. Jan Stefan Roell

“My hope is that we all share the ambition to shape the future of skills development and professional growth using the latest methods and to foster an environment where people can continuously learn, grow, and thrive.”

Dr. Jan Stefan Roell, majority shareholder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ZwickRoell SE

Artwork as a catalyst for exchange and connection

From now on, an artistic highlight will greet visitors right at the entrance: An oversized steel cube reflects the theme of materials testing and combines it with the power of water through frost action. The artwork will inspire exchange and connection. At the inauguration, ZwickRoell welcomed not only many employees but also representatives from the city, universities, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Einsingen Local Council, as well as participating architects and specialist companies.

Looking forward: A versatile venue for events

In the future, the training center will also be used for a variety of events. A “Training Day” is already planned for July 24, 2026. The training center will also play a key role at testXpo, ZwickRoell's internationally attended in-house exhibition.
