Innovative manufacturer of dental implants with a world-first UV-sealed technology
Point Implant is a South Korean manufacturer of dental implants with a production facility in Busan. The company manufactures a range of conical bone-level implants, which are available in several international markets. Although Point Implant entered the dental implant industry as a late competitor, the company pioneered a new market segment by developing and introducing the world’s first UV-sealed implant.
Improved quality control according to ISO 14801
The company utilizes biocompatible materials and modern surface treatments, including SLA (sandblasted, large grit and acid etched). In the process, the implant surface is sandblasted and then chemically etched to create a micro-rough structure, which is crucial for osseointegration—the firm bonding between the implant and the jawbone. In addition to the implants themselves, Point Implant offers a wide range of prosthetic components. This includes abutments (connectors between the implant and dental prosthesis), implant analogues (model duplicates for dental work), locator systems (attachments for removable dentures) and various screws. This variety allows for precise adaptation to different clinical and prosthetic requirements.
In Busan, product quality assurance is conducted to ISO 14801, the key standard for fatigue and load tests of dental implants. This standard defines the conditions under which implants are subjected to repeated forces in the laboratory to test their stability and durability.
To conduct these tests independently, flexibly and without external testing service providers, Point Implant has introduced the LTM 3 testing machine. The machine allows fatigue testing to be performed directly in your own laboratory at any time. This not only increases testing capacity and response speed to quality deviations, but also enables more economical and efficient quality control.
Point Implant relied on ZwickRoell’s extensive experience in materials testing and the reliability of German testing systems when selecting its testing technology. Additionally, the prompt and competent support from the local ZwickRoell Korea Service Center played a key role. Thanks to the powerful LTM 3 testing machine, Point Implant engineers can now achieve reproducible and reliable test results, ensuring consistent implant quality from development through serial production.
