ZwickRoell Congratulates Helmut Fahrenholz on DIN Excellence Award
At the 61st meeting of the “Mechanical properties and preparation of test specimens” working committee of the DIN Standards Committee for Plastics (FNK) in May 2025, our employee Helmut Fahrenholz was presented with the DIN Excellence Award. ZwickRoell congratulates him on this special honor.
With this award, the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), recognizes the more than 23 years of dedication of Helmut Fahrenholz to national and international standardization committees. During this time, he has held numerous positions – as an expert, employee, chairman, convenor, and project manager – and has made a significant contribution to introducing and representing the interests of the German plastics industry in standardization work.
The DIN Excellence Award is given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment through their long-standing, successful involvement in standardization and by providing new impetus for national and international cooperation. Helmut Fahrenholz has always regarded standardization as an indispensable tool for progress and innovation, and has actively helped shape it.
Nearly 40 year dedicated to plastics testing
His professional career is closely linked to ZwickRoell: After studying mechanical engineering in Bremen and Saarbrücken, Germany as well as Metz, France, he joined the ZwickRoell team in 1987. After working in application technology and sales, he took on the role of industry manager for plastics & rubber. In this role, he continues to shape the strategic direction in the field of polymer materials to this day. In recent years, he has also successfully built up the fiber composites business area.
Helmut Fahrenholz is currently convenor of a working group in the international standardization committee ISO/TC 61 and chairman of the DIN committee for rigid and flexible foams. He is also active in other DIN and ISO working groups and serves as a liaison officer between various committees.
