DIN 55437 | DIN 19304 Flexure test / quality of creasings
DIN 55437 describes the testing of folding boxboard creasings and consists of parts 1 to 3. DIN 55437-1 describes the requirements for the laboratory production of test creasings; DIN 55437-2 the visual evaluation of creases.
DIN 55437-3 defines the procedure and the conditions for the metrological assessment of the technical quality of folding boxboard creasings.
DIN 55437-3 is for testing flat, creased specimens of folding boxboard with a mass per unit area of 180 g/m2 to 600 g/m2. The quality is assessed by determining the folding factor. The folding factor describes the weakening of the cardboard in the creasing zone when comparing uncreased and creased specimens.
DIN 19304 also describes the guidelines for assessing the technical quality of creasings with the help of the folding factor or the bending resistance and is to be used for flat, creased specimens made of corrugated board.
2-point flexure test kit for testing corrugated board and folding carton creasings
The flexural resistance of cardboard and corrugated board on creased specimens is determined using the 2-point flexure test. The same ZwickRoell 2-point flexure test kit can be used here just as is used to determine the stiffness under flexure of paper and cardboard to DIN 53121, ISO 5628, and 2493-1.
