Series measurements

The test point editor is a convenient feature that helps you create test points at exact distances from one another. However, rows can also be set up directly on the workpiece via the evaluation camera, the overview camera or in panorama. The individual points are placed in the image via mouse click. The test points can also be automatically distributed on the row via line and polygon line tools. Depending on the application, distances to component edges or to test points are precisely determined according to standard.

Template feature

A template created in advance significantly shortens operation with fully automated hardness testers. The use of a template is recommended for tests on the same types of specimen or when you frequently test specimens that always have a certain set of parameters (tolerances, test methods, test point pattern, geometric corrections, etc.). Stored templates can contain test parameters (methods, test load, conversions and geometric corrections) as well as complete test rows including specimen reference points. Specimens that have already been measured can also be used as templates. After you open your template, you only need to align the reference point in a certain location on your specimen and you can start your hardness test.

Single measurement

Your hardness tester software guides you step-by-step through the test process. After you have determined the method, look for a suitable position for your single measurement via the live image. Within a few clicks the test process is authorized and the generated values are stored in a test point list. Bar charts and statistical tables provide useful information on the quality of your components.

Re-measurement

The automatic test point evaluation works with a precise algorithm for automatic evaluation of test points. Depending on the surface condition, test method and material, in some cases it may be necessary to remeasure a test point. With ecos Workflow, all points can be remeasured or evaluated with an alternative lens. If your indentation does not lead to a result due to a damaged surface, it can also be replaced with a new point.

Gear testing with the gearMASTER

This optional function is available for all fully automated DuraScan and DuraVision hardness testers. This module enables simple and precise testing of gear specimens according to standard. CHD, NHD and SHD rows can be set at the tooth base, on the flanks and in the axis of the gear. The basis of the line construction is the 30° tangent, starting from the tooth base. Based on the design, the core hardness point is accurately placed. Using the template function, you can test your gear quickly, efficiently and reproducibly. The tool meets the common guidelines for load testing of gear teeth and is available as an optional extension of the ecos Workflow hardness testing software.

Reference lines - LINEplus

The ecos LINEplus software module contains a set of reference tools that help you place test points and rows on your specimen according to precise dimension specifications. All start and end points have a snap function for your test points. Reference lines and polylines can now be edited any time and can be stored as templates, along with all of the test points.

Automatic detection of specimen edges with ecos AUTOROW

ecos AUTOROW enables precise automatic positioning of test rows on the specimen edge. This significantly increases the efficiency of the fully automated hardness tester. It allows row start points (T cursor) pre-positioned in the overview camera to be automatically placed at the specimen edge. The edge is detected automatically and precisely in the measuring camera image, the row is shifted according to its alignment, and is then aligned at right angles to the specimen edge. It makes no difference here whether the row has been positioned slightly outside or inside the specimen edge. This function is ideal for use in combination with predefined specimens. Since all rows are predefined, it only remains for the specimen to be aligned on the component using the specimen reference point in the live overview screen. Fine positioning is performed automatically by mouse click – with ecos AUTOROW.

CHD, NHD, SHD testing

Create your CHD, NHD or SHD row according to exact measurements above the grid in the test point editor. Then place your rows on the specimen. Positioning in the image is supported with the evaluation camera, the overview camera and in the panoramic view. For NHD measurements, core hardness points can be defined separately.

Hardness mapping - areaMASTER

This software module provides convenient support when it comes to automated solutions for complex hardness testing tasks. The module supports laboratory users who want to position a large number of test points on a defined surface or along the edge of the specimen. The integrated hardness map—a color display of the hardness distribution on surfaces—ensures optimal visualization of your results. Even large volumes of information, such as hardness values and coordinates of the test points, are clearly displayed. Because logic, transparency and very simple operation are key considerations in all of our software development efforts. The areaMaster is integrated into the ecos Workflow operating software and guarantees ease of operation and offers extensive export possibilities.

Panoramic view

Create a panoramic view of your specimen by scanning the specimen surface using the high-resolution overview camera—also possible in HDR quality. The individual images are then merged into one high-resolution panoramic image. You can place both test points and test rows directly in the panoramic image. The live image of the evaluation camera is additionally displayed as an overlay in the offline image. This allows you to analyze critical areas more precisely. With the stitching function, large-scale detailed images can be superimposed on the panorama by the evaluation camera. There are on limitations on the ideal view of your specimen.

Polyline

With the polyline, you can draw contours, surfaces of specific paths on the component. Distribute as many test points as you would like on the line using different distribution options. Also place points over an offset or fill drawn areas with a variety of points. Every line can be stored as a template and serves as a quick aid in your testing process.
