The company Faiveley Transport in Witten, Germany is a supplier for the railway industry. Its products include brake rods, brake discs, magnetic track brakes and couplers for long-distance and commuter trains. To increase the efficiency of the testing laboratory on-site, they entrusted ZwickRoell with modernizing their servohydraulic testing systems.
Fatigue tests on safety-related components and assemblies are essential to product development, but are also vital for quality control. With the help of servohydraulic testing machines and a multiaxial test stand, components of brake systems and couplers are checked for durability at Faiveley. The company opted to modernize with ZwickRoell to be able to implement more flexible test sequences in the future and to ensure compliance with increased requirements on control electronics.
The existing testing equipment was modernized by ZwickRoell using Control Cube digital measurement and control electronics as well as the user-friendly Cubus testing software. Cubus sofware provides a high degree of flexibility as well as a structured workflow for test results. The new control electronics allow cyclical fatigue tests to be performed on a wide range of components from Faiveley's product portfolio.
