Richard Neumayer is testing in high temperature according to Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU

Tanks, boilers, pipework and other pressure equipment represent a considerable hazard potential and are therefore subject to exacting requirements. To ensure the safety of pressure vessel steels and components for use in pressure equipment and measuring equipment, Richard Neumayer Gesellschaft für Umformtechnik mbH relies on a ZwickRoell materials testing machine for tests according to Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU.

Located in southern Germany, this owner-managed metal-forming company has customers in a variety of industries, in particular the automotive industry, general mechanical engineering and pressure vessel/pipe manufacturing. Drop-forged materials include pressure vessel steels, high-alloy materials, case-hardened and heat-treated steels and modern precipitation-hardening ferritic-pearlitic steels (AFP steels).

Richard Neumayer maintains a testing laboratory equipped with tensile testing machines. This is used for in-production tests for engine piston manufacturers and for testing components in pressure equipment. To enable tensile testing at high temperatures the company has opted to acquire a ZwickRoell AllroundLine testing machine. The Z250 SR is equipped with a three-zone high-temperature furnace, allowing testing in a temperature range from room temperature up to 900°C.

To ensure that the requirements of Directive 2014/68/EU for pressure equipment are met, together with customers' specifications, tests on drop forgings in the Richard Neumayer laboratory using the ZwickRoell AllroundLine testing machine are performed at different test temperatures and in the presence of a certification body such as TÜV.

Meeting the demands of customers and competition today calls for dependable partnerships and innovative equipment, explained the laboratory manager at Richard Neumayer, at the same time emphasizing that the acquisition of the ZwickRoell materials testing machine was the right decision when looking to the future.
