Aamor Inox produces cold-finished long products from special stainless steels. Production covers the entire process, from the hot rolling of ingots and billets to heat treatment and final finishing. The task

Manual hardness testing with high time required and risk of error

Aamor Inox faced the challenge of manually performing hardness tests for various scales such as Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers. The changeover between different indenters and lenses was time-consuming and error-prone. In addition, tensile tests on flat and round specimens had to be performed reliably according to ISO 6892-1. High machine stiffness, precise specimen alignment, accurate strain measurement and closed-loop strain rate control are crucial - especially for quality requirements in the metalworking environment and for Nadcap-relevant test specifications.

DuraVision 30G5 Lite and 330 kN UTM for standards-compliant metal testing

Aamor Inox uses the DuraVision 30G5 Lite for hardness testing. The system covers a load range from 3 kgf to 3000 kgf and enables tests according to Brinell, Rockwell, and Vickers. The automatic 7-position turret changes indenters and lenses without manual intervention; the software supports alignment, test sequence, and evaluation.

For the tensile test, an electromechanical 330 kN universal testing machine complements the quality assurance. It is designed for metal testing on flat and round specimens according to ISO 6892-1 and uses closed-loop strain rate control according to method A1. BOW hydraulic wedge clamps and an alignment device support the exact alignment of the specimens. The clip-on extensometer achieves a very high resolution of 0.02 μm and an accuracy class of 0.5 according to EN ISO 9513; the first measuring point is at 20 μm.

The result

Reproducible characteristic values and more efficient quality assurance

With the DuraVision 30G5 Lite, Aamor Inox was able to automate the entire hardness testing process. Rockwell, Brinell and Vickers tests are performed without manual changeover the automatic turret reduces operator intervention, while software-controlled alignment improves the reproducibility of the measurements. As a result, the company reduced the testing time for hardness testing by up to 40 percent and minimized the risk of errors.

The 330 kN universal testing machine complements the hardness testing with standard-compliant tensile tests on flat and round metal specimens. The high frame rigidity, precise crosshead control, BOW hydraulic wedge clamps, alignment device and the high-resolution clip-on extensometer enable stable stress-strain curves as well as reliable characteristic values such as yield strength, tensile strength, and strain at break.
