For tests in a temperature range of -80°C to 360 °C

All system components of these temperature chambers "Made by ZwickRoell" work together perfectly for your testing needs. All system functions feature convenient, intuitive operation via the ZwickRoell testing software. All data can be documented traceably with the test series. The temperature chambers are perfectly compatible with ZwickRoell’s extension measurement system. Reliable test results are guaranteed for both optical and contact measurements. The modular concept allows optimum adaptation of the chamber to suit your needs. The large chamber volume allows additional test area space for components testing.

Materials and components testing in a wide temperature range is suitable for the following tests, among others:

  • Plastics testing: reliable test results, e.g. to ISO 527-1, ASTM D638
  • Rubber, elastomers: standard compliant testing and temperature accuracy, e.g. to ISO 23529 and ISO 37
  • Composites: tests with a wide variety of test tools

Testing up to 360 °C: easy with the new temperature chamber

  • Material or component characteristics are determined with the highest level of accuracy and in compliance with the standards. The smallest test details become visible due to the unsurpassed measuring accuracy of this testing system.

  • The temperature chamber ensures accurate measurements with load cells and extensometers. Thanks to the innovative fan concept, characteristic values are free from influences caused by vibrations and convection.

  • Proper test performance can be easily demonstrated to customers and auditors. When combined with the testXpert III testing software, the test results are repeatable and settings are traceable. Recording of the temperature sequence starts during the heating phase.
  • When changing to tests at ambient temperature, the position of optical extensometers remains unchanged.

Tests on plastics

The temperature chamber, including all system components, covers the entire temperature range for all standard and engineering plastics. Heating and cooling times have been designed so that the maximum temperature of the temperature chamber can be achieved quickly and safely. The modular concept of the temperature chamber allows you much freedom in choosing system components.

  • For example, you can measure plastics with pronounced yield strength with high precision with the videoXtens or the makroXtens and you can switch the crosshead travel measurement completely automatically without opening and closing the door.
  • If you need large measurement travel for plastics without pronounced yield point, an optical and mechanical version with lightXtens and long-travel extensometer is also available.

Tests on composites

The temperature chamber, including all system components, covers the temperature range for most types of composites. For composites such as those with PEEK matrix for example, we also offer a temperature chamber up to 360°C with corresponding specimen grips.

  • Heating and cooling times have been designed so that the maximum temperature of the temperature chamber can be achieved quickly and safely, also with heavy attachments.
  • The modular concept of the temperature chamber allows you much freedom in choosing system components.

Tests on elastomers and rubber

The temperature chamber, including all system components, covers the entire temperature range also for elastomers and rubber.
Large measurement travel for elastomers and rubber are handled by lightXtens or the long-travel extensometer, giving you the flexibility of using optical or contact-type measurements.

Reliable test results

Reliable test results
The chambers feature very low vibration, allowing optimum integration of the temperature chamber with ZwickRoell extensometry. Reliable test results are guaranteed, regardless of whether optical or contact-type measurement is used.

Precise temperature conditioning

Exact temperature control
The sophisticated air-feed system ensures extremely uniform temperature distribution. Precision control guarantees stable temperatures with no overshooting, while pre-configured control parameters ensure the temperature is attained quickly and precisely. In conjunction with the ZwickRoell System Configuration Builder, specimen-specific control parameters can easily be loaded with the test program. The optional close-proximity temperature sensor enables temperature control at the critical sensor location, for optimum test results. The practical holder allows the sensor to be positioned quickly and precisely. Completely uniform, extremely accurate temperature control (+/- 1°C) ensures that your specimen is always at exactly the right temperature.

Maximum operating convenience

Maximum operating convenience
All system functions feature convenient, intuitive operation via the ZwickRoell testing software. The control layout adapts interactively to the test sequence and provides direct feedback. You can access all the data from your test series whenever you require. ZwickRoell's testing software allows the temperature chamber fan speed to be conveniently adjusted, ensuring reliable test results even with sensitive specimens such as films. The optional safety door function guarantees operator protection in accordance with European safety regulations, with the chamber door acting as a safety door with guard locking.

Flexible in use

Flexible in use
The modular concept allows optimum adaptation of the chamber to suit your needs. The large chamber volume provides additional test area space for component testing and a constant temperature in the area around the specimen. Future-proof: if you need to extend the range of application, all options can be retrofitted on-site as required.

Perfect extensometer integration

Perfect extensometer integration
These low-vibration temperature chambers provide optimum operating conditions for all extensometers. Extensometers are mounted at left rear, ensuring an unobstructed view into the test area through the window. To simplify installation a mechanical T-slotted module is available for sensor arms, together with an optical glass module for non-contact extensometers. This enables all extensometers available from ZwickRoell to be used with the temperature chambers.
