If high precision is required for strain measurement on plastics and fiber-reinforced composites, the videoXtens 2-120 HP is the perfect non-contact solution.

  • Compliance with the strict requirements for tensile modulus values to ISO 527-1 Annex C, including exact measurement of the tensile modulus values.
  • This high level of accuracy is also attained under temperature conditions inside a ZwickRoell temperature chamber.
  • As the system employs non-contact measurement, material characteristic values are unaffected. Operator influence is also minimized, ensuring consistent test results.

Plastics to ISO 527-1 or ASTM D638

Requirements of ISO 527-1 for determination of tensile modulus: max. error ± 1 µm / ±1.5 µm when measuring the differential displacement between two measuring points (with elongation of 0.05% and 0.25% of the initial gauge length, with an initial gauge length L0 of 50 mm / 75 mm.
We recommend self-adhesive gauge marks (strips).

  • In-plane shear tests (±45° method): In-plane shear response to ISO 14129 and ASTM D3518 (transverse strain software option required)

  • Accuracy class B1 to ASTM E83 from a gauge mark distance of 15 mm.
  • Highly accurate testing with ZwickRoell temperature chamber, also for determination of the tensile modulus to ISO 527-1.
  • The tunnel connection keeps the system closed for tests in a temperature chamber.
  • Resistant to environmental influences (e.g. air currents, variations in lighting): flexible tunnel minimizes signal interference.
  • Optimum, uniform specimen illumination by LEDs incorporated into the tunnel.
