Inductive Clip-On Extensometers

These extensometers are attached directly to specimens and are designed for extension measurement on metals and plastics.

Their range of application covers all fine strain and offset yield measurement, together with determination of Young's modulus. Clip-on extensometers are available with manual or automatic attachment.

Advantages and features

The inductive clip-on extensometer is intended for fixed gauge lengths L0 = 10 mm and L0 = 20 mm (optionally up to L0 = 100 mm) with a measuring range of 2 mm in the tensile and 1.5 mm in the compression direction.

  • As the measuring system is located very close to the specimen, the measurement lever-arms involved are very small, giving increased accuracy and reproducibility.
  • Very high resolution over the entire measurement range.
  • Fitted with two measuring systems for dual averaging measurement of outer fiber strain.
  • Suitable for tensile, compression and cyclic load tests.

Weight Relieving option

The inductive clip-on extensometer can optionally be equipped with a with weight relieving device.

Use of the stabilizer arm allows the clip-on extensometer to be attached more easily and reproducibly. The weight on the specimen is also relieved so that no torque is applied, allowing the clip-on extensometer to be used for thin and sensitive specimens also. The extensometer is additionally protected against slipping and falling (in the event of the specimen breaking or being changed).
