Testing of Metals

Metals are, and will remain, important construction materials worldwide. A high percentage of steel materials can be recycled many times over and are therefore considered sustainable. Understanding their material characteristics is essential for design engineers and people who use these materials. Material characteristics are obtained from mechanical-technological materials testing, whereby materials testing machines load the materials until they fail. The standard stipulates the general requirements for test methods used to determine characteristics. ZwickRoell materials testing machines are equipped to fulfill these requirements and to meet customer specifications. To fulfill these requirements, the testing software uses test programs that specify the test procedure and important presets or request required variable parameter values from the operator.

Testing of Flat Products

Flat products are finished products or semi-finished products with a high width-to-thickness ratio.

Long products are metal products and metal semi-finished products with an approximately equal width-to-thickness ratio.

Testing of Semi-Finished Products

Semi-finished products made of metals are sometimes finished pre-products that are either placed in storage for later processing in-house or delivered to other companies and finished at their sites.
