Application Training Course for Melt Flow Testing
This practical hands-on application training course with workshop-feel is designed for operators of extrusion plastometers who must independently set up and understand testing. These may include employees and foreman from production, the laboratory, quality assurance or incoming goods inspection.
Course objectives
- Correct testing of various polymers in compliance with required test conditions
- Basics for standard DIN EN ISO 1133-1 and 1133-2
- Determination of melt mass flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) of thermoplastics
- Safe operation and configuration of ZwickRoell extrusion plastometers
- Determining and understanding test results
- Practical and efficient handling during extrusion testing
Course content
In this training course you will be trained on the following content:
- Basics of extrusion testing and its areas of application
- Operating principle of extrusion testing and explanation of testing system
- Influencing factors and error prevention
- Understanding requirements for the testing of various polymers, for example with regard to temperature and moisture sensitivity
- Observation of material-dependent test conditions
- Basics for standards DIN EN ISO 1133-1 and 1133-2
- Options and configuration settings in the testXpert II testing software within the scope of melt flow testing
- Practical exercises for determining the melt mass flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) of thermoplastics
- Understanding and evaluating determined results
- Information on the maintenance and care of extrusion plastometers
The practical exercises in this workshop are carried out using various polymers in ZwickRoell extrusion plastometers.
